Cleveland Scholarship & EdChoice: What Genesis Families Should Know

Enrollment & Scholarship Update: August 13, 2026

As a brand-new, Ohio-approved private school, Genesis is still being added to Ohio’s scholarship system — so we do not yet appear as a school you can select when you apply for a Cleveland Scholarship or EdChoice voucher. This is a temporary, technical issue. It does not prevent your scholar from enrolling or starting the school year on time. Below are answers to the questions families are asking right now.

Why isn’t The Genesis School showing up in the scholarship portal yet?

The Genesis School is a newly approved private school for the 2026–27 school year. Before a new school can be chosen in the scholarship portal, it must be fully added to the state’s system — and that step is still being completed. This is a normal part of opening a new school and does not affect your scholar’s ability to enroll or attend Genesis.

When will The Genesis School appear in the portal?

We expect The Genesis School to become available to select in the scholarship portal between August 19 and September 15, 2026. Because our doors open August 18, your scholar can begin the school year on time. We’ll finalize the scholarship paperwork with you as soon as Genesis is listed.

Will I have to pay tuition since the portal isn’t open?

No. The Genesis School is free for families through the Cleveland Scholarship and EdChoice voucher programs, and that does not change while we wait for the portal to update. Genesis appearing in the portal is simply the final step that lets you complete your scholarship application — it is not a bill or a deadline that puts your funding at risk. Your scholar can enroll and start the school year at no cost to your family, and we’ll finalize the scholarship paperwork with you as soon as Genesis is available to select.

Is there anything families should do right now?

Yes — a few simple things:

  1. Enroll directly with The Genesis School now. You do not need to wait for the portal. Reserve your scholar’s spot for Fall 2026 at gogenesisschool.org or by contacting our enrollment team.
  2. Gather your documents. Have your scholar’s birth certificate and proof of address ready so we can move quickly once Genesis appears in the portal.
  3. Let us handle the hard part. The Genesis School assists families with every step of the Cleveland Scholarship and EdChoice applications.

Will The Genesis School reach out to me?

Yes. Our enrollment team is tracking every family and will follow up to help complete the scholarship application as soon as Genesis becomes available to select in the portal.

Will I receive an email?

Yes. We’ll follow up by phone or email to let you know when the application portal is ready.

Who can I contact with questions?

Please reach out to Madison Mwonyonyi at enrollment@gogenesisschool.org (216) 834-9244. We’re glad to walk you through the process and answer any questions.
